What is Qmlativ?
Qmlativ is the latest iteration of Skyward, our current school management software. Qmlativ provides student, human resources, and business applications for district and school operations. Qmlativ also includes family and student access applications.
-
When will VISD start using Qmlativ?
Qmlativ will be live and available for all users in Summer 2024.
-
Why is the District migrating to Qmlativ?
Qmlativ will increase our data security, improve our overall system performance, reduce steps to perform tasks, and offer accessible data reporting. It also provides a unified platform for our student, human resources, and financial applications.
Our current management system Skyward is an older version of software and its support will eventually be phased out.

What processes are involved for the software migration?
Transitioning to Qmlativ will be a year-long project.
Clean up of data.
The project team has specific tasks to complete to migrate clean, high-quality data from each Skyward application. These tasks are critical to the migration process to ensure that our data transfers as efficiently as possible. This process has been underway for several months and will continue until our data migration date.
Input and planning
Our core project team is building a migration plan with District leadership and NWRDC (our software support group). We will be forming focus groups representing various users and system modules. The project team and focus groups will assist with cleanup, provide input on configuration, and help plan training for staff and family users.
Training
Training will be provided to all users prior to the migration. After the migration, the District will offer additional training to ensure all staff are up to speed and ready for the new school year. Once our focus groups have determined training outcomes for each group, we will publish a training calendar on the District website. Training will include self-paced courses, in-person training, videos, tip sheets, and a library of resources.
Continued evaluation
After the migration, the project team will continue to evaluate Qmlativ progress, fine tune the system, offer focused training as needed, and gather enhancements from the focus teams.
